House On Loon Lake

This is a loose little painting I did in my skectchbook, for my favorite episode of This American Life.
It's more or less about the beauty and mystery in the life of everyday objects. In the case of the House on Loon Lake, it's about the mystery of their abandonment.

Ms. Stadtlander,
I came across your Loon Lake illustration when searching for the NPR link to the episode. It's charming and very much in the spirit of the story. I'm a friend of one of the narrators and I sent the link to him.
Sincerely,
Dan

Thank you! It is a nice surprise to hear from someone connected to the show. That episode in particular was very inspirational for me.

That is also my favorite episode. I remember the first time I heard it while cleaning house on a Saturday. At one point I was so lost in the story, I realized I had stopped cleaning and slumped against the wall, crying at the abandonment of the home. Your illustration is perfect and beautiful!
